<\/p>\nOf all the high-end watchmaking auctions this fall, perhaps the most important was Christie\u2019s Only Watch 2021. A charity auction, where the manufacturers present unique pieces made especially for the occasion. A total of 53 watches were auctioned and 29,740,000 Swiss francs were raised.<\/p>\n

The most expensive watch in the auction, came from the house of Patek Philippe and had the peculiarity of being a table clock and in fact extremely complex. Inspired by a corresponding watch of the house made especially for James Ward Packard, well-known car manufacturer and founder of Packard Motor Car Company, in 1923, which is preserved in the museum of the house of Patek Philippe.<\/p>\n

This unique watch with reference code 27001M-001 has a new clockwork mechanism, cal. 86-135 PEND IRM Q SE, which has a perpetual calendar, indication of the phases of the moon, as well as indications for the week of the year, the month, the date and the day. It also provides a 31-day power reserve that allows it to operate for a month without the need for tuning. These maintaining an impressive accuracy of -1 \/ + 1 seconds per day and performing all its functions exclusively with mechanical parts.<\/p>\n
Patek Philippe Ref. 27001M Complicated Desk Clock managed to raise the astronomical sum of 9,500,000 Swiss francs. Although only the fourth largest amount for a watch at auction.<\/p>\n
